Project Coordinator

Reports to Manager, Engineering and Operations

Job Purpose

The Greater Moncton International Airport (GMIA) has an immediate opening for a Project Coordinator to assist with the 2-year runway 06-24 extension construction project.  This is a full-time, two-year entry level airport operations position that will start in May 2012.

The ideal candidate will have completed a post-secondary airport operations program or engineering- related program and have a passion for aviation. You are a self-starter with demonstrated ability to use initiative to achieve results. Safety is second nature, and you will be expected to be a key part of the safety system.

Overview of Duties

 Monitor construction progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
 Facilitate on site quality control/quality assurance
 Issue NOTAM’s on an as-needed basis
 Report any unsafe construction activities and/or hazards to aviation safety
 Advise on any environmental impacts that may result from construction near a wetland
 Participate in construction meetings
 Liaise with engineering consultant and contractor on GMIA’s behalf
 Coordinate operational impacts with Nav Canada
 Coordinate airport security and escorting requirements for the project
 Provide escorting when required
 Provide administrative support on an as needed basis for the Manager, Engineering and Operations
 Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Manager, Engineering and Operations

Qualifications

Appropriate post-secondary education
A class 5 driver’s license
AVOP and radio licence
Ability to obtain a Transport Canada security clearance
Familiarity with related federal OSH regulations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to understand technical concepts
Demonstrated knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office Suite products

Environment

This job will require the candidate to be outside and a will be required to potentially work 12-hour days during the construction period.

This position is within the collective bargaining unit (UCTE) for the GMIA.
