Greater Moncton International Airport Reopens Runway

November 3, 2011

DIEPPE – The Greater Moncton International Airport (GMIA) has successfully completed a 5-month pavement and drainage rehabilitation project of the main east-west runway (runway 11/29 including taxiway ‘D’). Flight operations have returned to normal this past weekend; therefore, both runways are now fully operational. Residents may notice a change in aircraft noise as flight operations return to their normal pattern.

This is phase II of a three-year, $20Million airfield project to rehabilitate airfield pavement and drainage systems was 100% funded by the airport through the Airport Improvement and Rehabilitation (AIR) fund.

“We are very thankful for the community’s understanding while this period of necessary work at the airport was underway”, says Chris Framer, GMIA Director of Operations.
